For the audiophile purists, there are a few copies remaining of the original CD before the 2009 remastering. Reid's early digital recordings were D-D-D and featured very wide dynamic range and no compression.

Possibly the only recording of entirely 6-string banjo music, and probably still the definitive one. It's a revelation to other players, and a delight to listen to. Reid puts this instrument through its paces like no one else, and the banjo strings sing as he plays ragtime, celtic, folk, rock, fiddle tunes, blues, classical, Spanish, old-time, Stephen Foster melodies and a number of amazing original compositions. It's mostly solo fingerstyle, with 3 tracks on the 12-string banjo and a couple flatpicked cuts. 19 instrumentals, 2 songs, all but 1 track are played in standard guitar tuning. It was remastered in 2009- it also got new art work but the music is the same as it was in 1995 when it first came out. There have been 6-string banjos around for more than 100 years, and people from Rev. Gary Davis, Fred van Eps, Kingston Trio & Glen Campbell to Django Reinhart have played them now and then. This CD made Doc Watson go get a 6-string banjo.
