CLOSE-OUT SALE PRICE This is a new mini-version of this clamp-style universal partial capo, and it works with ukeleles, tenor guitars and banjos, except ones with pairs of strings. It fits fingerboards from about 1" to 1 7/8" wide. It seems to work on some dulcimers, even with paired strings, though it is unknown how well they handle different neck widths & string gauges of various dulcimers.
The newest member of the partial capo family, the SpiderCapo appeared in 2008, with a new space-age look that makes a different statement than a Third Hand, though basically does the same thing. It is made of plastic that looks like gun metal. The Spider capo has one advantage that no other capo has, which is that the levers that clamp down the strings can be flipped up or down while the capo is in place. This means in the middle of a song or a performance. The Spider capo also has no unsightly elastic strap that can wear out. It's pretty much equivalent to the Third Hand in terms of the music it allows you to play (there are small differences). It is slower to put on and off or to move to another fret than Third Hand. If you are exploring the partial capo world, you should have one of a universal partial capo, and we feel there is no clear winner between this and the Third Hand. It's a matter of style and cost. MADE IN CHINA.
