A newer member of the partial capo family, the SpiderCapo appeared in 2008, with a new "space-age" look that makes a different statement than a Third Hand. The SpiderCapo is made of plastic that looks like gun metal, and it can clamp all 63 possible combinations of strings at any fret on most guitars. Though it is classified as a "universal" partial capo, there are actually 3 models of it: standard, XXL for wide-neck, classical + 7 or 8-string guitars, and the MINI for ukes, banjos & mandolins.
It has one big advantage that no other capo has, which is that the levers that clamp down the strings can be flipped up or down while the capo is in place. This means you can flip the levers even in the middle of a song or a performance. The SpiderCapo also has no elastic strap that can wear out.
It's pretty much equivalent to the Third Hand in terms of the music it allows you to play, though there are subtle differences. Read a careful comparison of the SpiderCapo vs. the Third Hand universal capo to help you choose which one is best for you and your guitar.
The SpiderCapo comes with very little information about were to put the capo or your fingers. Thousands of players for decades have failed to find a lot of the clever ways to get new music from a partial capo, and you probably won't either without some help. If you buy a Spider Capo from us, we will include a Third Hand Capo instruction sheet that will give you a lot of ideas of how to use it. MADE IN CHINA.
