This book takes you through all 56 songs in the Song Train, and shows how you can play each song in the same key it was done in the Song Train (and sometimes it shows you how to play it in other keys) using just the amazing 2-finger Liberty Tuning chords. 2-chord songs, all played with 2-finger chords: it doesn't get any easier or more fun than this. It's quite a lesson in both guitar strategy and in how Liberty Tuning works as each of these folk, blues, bluegrass, country, rock, gospel and pop songs is put on the bench. Harvey Reid carefully shows how to do the best simplified-chord version of each of these great songs. A Liberty FLIP Model 43 capo is required!
At the beginning of 2014, Harvey Reid unveiled his new discovery, "Liberty Tuning," a simple new guitar environment that you can do with any guitar in as little as 5 seconds. The most important feature of Liberty Tuning is that it allows almost anyone to play simple 2-finger chord shapes that sound as good as much harder "regular" guitar chords. When Harvey Reid & Joyce Andersen made the Song Train in 2007 (www.SongTrain.net), they collected 56 songs of a variety of styles, that all have 2 chords or less. The idea was to provide a repertoire of good and durable songs to help beginners get going playing home-made music, and free them from the nursery rhymes and usual group of uninspiring beginner songs. They had no idea then that this new idea would surface that would make these easy-but-great songs a whole lot easier. Visit the "Liberty Guitar" web site.
The Song Train is still in print, though you can find the 56 tracks on iTunes and other common digital download services. You won't get the 80-page hardback book that comes with the Song Train, but at least you can hear the music anywhere if you have an internet connection.
You need a universal partial capo or some different types of partial capos (or our ground-brreaking new Liberty "Flip" capo) to generate Liberty Tuning, though you can do a lot of them with most standard 3-string Esus capos.
